Bestpractices.ca.gov is a wiki that is dedicated to the sharing of best practices that are occurring all over State government. Although State employees have been sharing best practices informally for many years, Bestpractices.ca.gov provides an interactive space to share those ideas and provide comments and suggestions which will generate further discussion and innovation.
Bestpractices.ca.gov is powered by crowd-sourcing (using the power and best ideas) of all our State colleagues. Using the attached template, any state employee can submit information on a best practice that has been demonstrated to be an effective method of doing business or providing service. Useful materials such as samples or illustrations that would help another State agency adapt and/or implement that best practice can also be provided.
Bestpractices.ca.gov is designed to promote innovation and sharing of new ideas. State employees can submit content directly to the wiki site. Supervisors’ approval is not required but if a State employee posts to the wiki, it would be great to let your supervisor know so that awareness and use of Bestpractices.ca.gov could grow.
Bestpractices.ca.gov is a self-regulating interactive space to share information. Feel free to make comments about any material that is posted. We hope that material will remain intact as submitted; and active discussion will take place via posts about the effectiveness of the information, new ideas, not so successful outcomes, etc.
Bestpractices.ca.gov has a code of conduct: respect your fellow State employees. Our purpose is to provide a safe space for sharing great ideas. Be civil in any posts. The site is monitored by California State Library staff, who will edit material for defamatory, illegal or otherwise inappropriate content.
Bestpractices.ca.gov is an evolving space. It has been created by State employees who have volunteered to try to promote the good work that is being performed by our colleagues, to highlight best practices that may help other colleagues and to create an interactive space where timely information can be easily shared and updated.
