Idea/Initiative Name: DMV Website Text Resizer

Objective: To provide a text resizing tool that promotes greater website accessibility to the Department of Motor Vehicle's (DMV) aging and vision impaired customers.

Description: The department created the website text resizer because management felt a responsibility to address the need for aging and vision impaired customers to access DMV information online. The small text resizer box is located to the left of each screen on the DMV Internet website. Three different sizes of text are offered, as indicated by a “T” display figure. Each “T” represents an increase or decrease in text size. If the customer clicks one of the “T”s, the text on the page increases or decreases in size. The small “T” decreases the text, the middle-size “T” restores the text to its original format, and the larger “T” increases the text size.

Results: The text resizer can be used by most DMV customers at some point in their lifetime. The department received many customer requests for the ability to change the text size on the DMV Internet website. The new DMV website text resizer fulfilled these customers' requests.
