WHAT'S nEW FOR 2009

  • 2009-12-15 - An additional 22 definitions were added to the Definitions List and two acronyms were added to the Acronym List.
  • 2009-12-15 - Four new Web Based Training modules were added to the Best Practices Website. They are as follows: Communication Plan; Post Implementation Evaluation Report (PIER); Staff Orientation Guide; and, Vendor Handbook. These modules orient and familiarize the user with the information needed to complete the respective plan/process templates. These self-paced learning sessions take from 15 minutes to 30 minutes to complete depending on the size of the template.
  • 2009-10-05 - Four new Web Based Training modules were added to the Best Practices Website. They are as follows: Risk Management Plan; Test and Evaluation Master Plan; Governance Plan; and, Issue and Escalation Process. These modules orient and familiarize the user with the information needed to complete the respective plan/process templates. These self-paced learning sessions take from 15 minutes to 30 minutes to complete depending on the size of the template.
  • 2009-10-05 - On the Project Management Initiation, Planning and Executing pages links to OCIO Complexity Assessment, Project Status Reports and Required Skills and Skill Gap Plan were added.
  • 2009-10-05 - An additional 205 definitions were added to the Definitions Listing.
  • 2009-08-10 - Several Data Item Descriptions (DID's) were added to the Best Practices Website. They are as follows the Business Continuity Plan, Disaster Recovery Plan, Implementation Plan, Interface Plan, Knowledge Transfer and Training Plan, Release Notes, Systems Engineering Management Plan, System Security Plan, Technical Reviews, Training Plan and Transition to M&O Plan.
  • 2009-08-10 - The Web Based Training (WBT) module for the Document Management Plan template has been published to the Best Practices Website. This module orients and familiarizes the user with the information needed to complete the Document Management Plan Template. This self-paced training session takes about 20 minutes to complete.

  • 2009-07-28 - Added MITA and FHA links. MITA is an IT initiative intended to stimulate an integrated business and IT transformation affecting the Medicaid enterprise in all States. It includes an architecture framework, processes, and planning guidelines that allow State Medicaid enterprises to meet their Medicaid objectives within the MITA Framework while supporting unique local needs.
    FHA and its federal partners are helping build a federal health information technology environment that is interoperable with private sector systems and supports better point-of-service care, increased efficiency and improved overall health in the U.S. population. FHA is responsible for: -Leveraging federal expertise by creating a federal health information sharing environment - Supporting federal efforts to develop and adopt health IT standards and services -Ensuring that federal agencies can seamlessly exchange health data among themselves, with state, local and tribal governments, and with private-sector health care.

This module orients and familiarizes the user with the information needed to complete the Contract Management Plan Template. This self-paced learning session takes about 25 minutes to complete.
  • 2009-06-15 - The Web Based Training (WBT) module for the Deliverable Management Process has been published to the Best Practices Website. This module orients and familiarizes the user with the information needed to complete the Deliverable Management Plan Template. This self-paced learning session takes about 15 minutes to complete.
  • 2009-04-06 - The Web Based Training (WBT) module for the Cost Management Plan has been published to the Best Practices Website. This module orients and familiarizes the user with the information needed to complete the Cost Management Plan Template. This self-paced learning session takes about 20 minutes to complete.
  • 2009-04-06 - The Purpose and Scope were clarified in the Cost Management Plan.

  • 2009-04-06 - The SDLC Outline documents have been updated to reference that the outline should be used when developing RFP requirements. The roles were also updated to reflect responsibilities associated with each outline.
  • 2009-04-06 - The Test and Evaluation Master Plan and the Testing Supplemental Information documents are now available. Six new testing templates have also been added to assist in the documentation of testing: Test Plan, Test Case Report, Test Log, Incident Tracking Log, Corrective Action Plan (CAP), and Test Summary Report.
  • 2009-04-06 - The Cost Management Plan Web Based Training (WBT) module has been published to the Best Practices Website. This module orients and familiarizes the user with the information needed to complete the Cost Management Plan Template. This self-paced learning session takes about 40 minutes to complete.
  • 2009-02-26 - The Document Management Plan has been added to the Best Practices Website. This document defines the process for managing project documentation during the project life cycle. This plan also describes how to set up and manage a document management library.
  • 2009-02-19 - An updated version of the Cost Management Plan was added. This version includes minor changes such as clarifying information about the project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), instructions (if applicable) were moved to the start of each section, and the Procurement Center name was changed to the Acquisition Center.
  • 2009-02-19 - The Lessons Learned Instructions and Template have been updated to reflect "closeout" as one word.
  • 2009-01-22 - DID and DED definitions were added to the Definitions List
  • Contract Management annual review was completed. Changed OSI Procurement Center to OSI Acquisition Center. Updated language in section 6.2.7 Replacing Contractor Staff.
  • 2009-01-22 - Lessons Learned Web Based Training (WBT) Module was added to assist the user with the completion of the Lessons Learned document.

WHAT'S nEW FOR 2008

  • 2008-10-08 - The Project Management Office has posted the National Association of Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) announcement that the Office of Systems Integration was a finalist in the "Enterprise IT Management Initiatives" category for deployment and use of its own unique brand of project management tools and processes through the Best Practices Website.
  • 2008-09-05 - The OSI announced today the release of an all new Best Practices Website. The site has an improved design, a new Project Life Cycle Framework, updated content and refreshed policies, procedures, and templates.
  • 2008-08-19 - The Project Management office has posted the Center for Digital Government announcement that California's Office of Systems integration (OSI) has won the Digital Government Achievement Award.
  • 2008-04-09 - The Cost Management Plan template and tailoring guide have been combined into one Cost Management Plan. The Cost Management Plan identifies the processes and procedures used to manage costs throughout the project’s life cycle.
  • 2008-03-28 - The OSI Policy Analyzer has been removed from the Best Practices website because updates and changes to the original policies upon which the Analyzer were based resulted in misalignment of the tool as a measure of compliance with current OSI Policies. When the PMO has updated OSI Policies and Procedures the Policy Analyzer will be reviewed.
  • 2008-03-17 - The Prime and Non-Prime Contract Management Plan and tailoring guides have been combined into one Contract Management Plan. The Contract Management Plan identifies the activities to be performed or initiated by project staff to manage, track, amend, and close a contract
  • 2008-03-12 - The OSI Policy on Adoption of OSI Best Practices Website has been updated. This policy establishes the OSI Best Practices Website as the official repository for policies, standards, guidance, and industry best practices for projects managed by the Office of Systems Integration.
  • 2008-02-20 - The Issue Action Item Management Process template and tailoring guide and the Escalation Process template and tailoring guide have been combined to form one document. It is now called Issue and Escalation Process.
  • 2008-01-31 - The Governance Plan Template has undergone significant revisions. The Governance Plan template now incorporates tailoring instructions.

 

WHAT'S nEW FOR 2007

  • 2007-12-28 - The Staff Management Plan Template and Responsibility Assignment Matrix (RAM) have undergone significant revisions. The Staff Management Plan template now incorporates tailoring instructions.
  • 2007-11-15 - The County APD Process website has been restructured to contain more information on Project Background, County Communications, County APD Process (county and state staff to access workflows, procedures, development tools, specific regulatory considerations and other resources to process a County APD in accordance with reengineered process requirements), Training Modules and Key Contacts.
  • 2007-10-19 - Redesigned the OSI Best Practices Website to meet the new CA.GOV standards for website accessibility and usability.
